Chicken, Chicken, Chicken.... Once upon a time, chickens were inseparable with the thought of a farm, the old hen-house and the crowing rooster in the morning. Nowadays, the consumption chicken comes from huge poultry-farms and slaughterhouses. This series shows one of the large scale chicken slaughterhouses in the Netherlands, with a production of 50,000 consumption ready chickens in one week. Not knowing their fate the chickens enter the productive-machine alive. They are hanging on a hook and first plunged in water with electricity to be benumbed. After that, their throat is cut off and they are bleeding empty. Further down the line they are losing their feathers, they are cleaned, cut the chicken-breasts and Drumsticks, packed and frozen. Enjoy your meal.....
